home/affair
Home/Affair is a performance devised with a group of lgbtq asylum seekers in South Africa that emerged from over seven years of in-depth ethnography and ongoing performance workshops. the performance uses aesthetic and formal abstraction to explore tactics of unbelonging in performance, politics, and in everyday life. for queer African asylum seekers, this performance became one way of rewriting the script of displacement and logic of belonging, along the lines of ethnicity/race, gender, sexuality, and legal status assumed and imposed by the international refugee system.
